composition. 350 gr walnut shells, 40 gr flour, 35 gr mycelium spawn (trametes versicolor)

Instructions.

Step one - substrate preparation

1. Sanitise working area with alcohol

2. Wash the walnut shell.

3. Triturate the walnut shell.

4. Sieve the walnut shell in 3mm and 5mm.

5. The walnut shell at 100°C for 60 minutes.

6. Deposit 300g of the substrate in canning jars and then close them. Allow the exchange of air.

Step two - spawn mushroom

1. Add 30g of the ‘mushroom seeds’ to substrate and stir.

2. Add 4 tablespoons (40g) of flour.

3. In a clean area, allow the mushroom mycelium to grow for 5 to 8 days.  The spawn is ready.

Step three - mold preparation

1. Sketchs the molds.

2. Design the mold in a design software (Rhinoceros).

3. Cut on CNC router (RhinoCam).

4. Thermoform in High Impact Polystyrene (1mm).  The mold is done.

Step four - mycelium growth

1. Remove mycelium material from canning jars and place in mixing bowl.

2. Stir

3. Add 4 tablespoons (40g) of flour.

4. Stir.

5. Fill the molds with mycelium material.

6. Seal the mold with plastic film.

7. Make holes in the plastic film, allowing gas exchange.

8. In a clean area, allow the mushroom mycelium to grow for 8 to 10 days. Almost ready.

Step five - baking material

1. Unfold the mycelium material and put it on the oven in 340°F for 20 minutes.

2. Down the heat to 210° F for 40 minutes. Open the oven door every 20 minutes to allow moisture to escape.  The brick is ready.
